1. Structural Differences
- LED Grille Screen (also called LED strip screen)Constructed with parallel vertical aluminum LED strips, rigid cabinet structure without bending capacity. Standard pixel pitches range from 12mm to 80mm, mainstream specs P3.9-7.8, P7.8. Transmittance 50%–70% with finer image performance, designed for high-definition video advertising.
- LED Grid Screen (flexible dot matrix mesh screen)Made of individual LED dots connected by soft wires into flexible mesh, rollable, cuttable, customizable for spherical & curved shapes. Larger pixel pitches of 35–200mm, transmittance up to 75%–85%. Oriented for architectural lighting and creative artistic displays with obvious pixel grain.

2. Weight & Installation
- Grille screen: Rigid aluminum cabinet, weight 10–20kg/㎡. Designed for permanent installation on flat glass curtain walls and building facades with standard steel frame hoisting.
- Grid screen: Soft flexible mesh, ultra-light weight 3–10kg/㎡. Can be tension-mounted with steel wires, ideal for oversized projects (over 500㎡), curved/spherical buildings, greatly reducing steel reinforcement cost.
3. Display Performance & Application Positioning
- LED grille screen: High pixel density, delicate picture quality, widely used for mall curtain walls, street advertising and landmark HD large screens, mainstream commercial display product in market circulation.
- LED grid screen: Low pixel density with wide pitches, mainly for night landscape lighting, artistic lighting effects and cultural tourism spherical buildings. Lower cost for huge areas, but pixel grain is visible at close range.

4. Outdoor Protection & Heat Dissipation
Both adopt hollow self-ventilation design with no extra cooling devices needed. Integrated cabinet of grille screen delivers more stable waterproof performance for long-term outdoor fixed advertising; flexible grid screen has moderate waterproof rating, mostly applied to landscape lighting and creative temporary projects.
Supplementary Industry Note
Some small manufacturers casually refer to grille screens as grid screens in oral communication, but technically they are two distinct products with different structures, pixel specs and application scenarios.
